When I open Word on Windows, it tells me it is unlicensed. I thought Office came free with laptop

When try to use Word, there is a message saying it's unlicensed and I can't perform any edits. The laptop came with Microsoft Office installed. I can't understand why Word won't work.

The version of MS Office that comes preloaded is usually Office 365 and that is a trial version -- which expires and can not be activated.

If you paid extra for a retail license, then you would need to contact HP Customer Support directly to get the info you need to activate that license.

Thank you WAWood. I was trying to work, at home, on a document from work where I have Office 365 free. Thanks again for your advice. Maybe I just need to sign into Office 365 from home. New laptop - not very experienced.
