My mute button light does not come on when I press the button. Supposedly the latest "IDT Audio installer" can fix this. Where can I find the latest version? HP's driver website indicates that the latest version was released on Sep 30, 2013 but I suspect something newer exists.
This wouldn't be the first time HP's driver page has been out of date. See https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/3D-DriveGuard-needs-to-be-updat...
Thanks!

Following these steps fixed my problem. Thank MKazi for the first 7 steps:
Please try the following steps.
1. Select IDT High Definition Audio CODEC on Device Manager.
2. Select Driver tab.
3. Click Update Driver... button.
4. Select -> Browse my computer for driver software.
5. Select -> Let me pickup a list of device drivers on my computer.
6. Select High Definition Audio Device (Not IDT High Def... this is important.) and click Next.
Appears Warning message, but reply Yes.
7. ! Windows has successfully update your driver software.
8. The "High Definition audio device" appeared after restarting in the device manager. Still no light would appear when I press the mute button.
9. I then updated the driver through the driver manager's driver tab, restarted, and the "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC" (Driver Version: 6.10.6491.0) returned but the problem was fixed!
Pretty weird. Let me know if you want any sort of diagnostic information to prevent other users from expierencing this problem. I assume that the "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC" driver (Driver date: 8/16/2013 and Driver Version: 6.10.6491.0) really is the most up-to-date driver available to me?

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.
I understand that you have an HP Envy 17 Leap Motion SE series laptop. I read that you're looking for the latest "IDT Audio installer" to fix the mute button light on the laptop. I read that the mute button light does not come on when you press the button. I'll be glad to assist you with this case.
Please let me know the exact laptop model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
Meanwhile, I recommend you to uninstall the audio drivers and then reinstall them. The following steps will help:
- Open the device manager.
- Expand "Sound, video and game controllers". Right click on the audio drivers in there and select uninstall.
- Once the audio drivers are uninstalled, close the device manager.
- You may look for the drivers for the laptop online via the HP website: www.hp.com/drivers
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Please feel free to keep me posted. Cheers! 🙂

My product number is F1J39AV. I've already installed the "latest" IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver (6.10.6491.0) from the linked page but my problem persists. I'm not sure if that is the latest driver available for my system since the release date is Sep 30, 2013.

You're welcome. 🙂
I'm glad the finally the issue was fixed. I must say that technical solutions can only be provided and it was you who performed them to perfection.
The diagnostics information is not required. And yes, it sounds like the most updated version of the drivers.
Let me know if you have any further questions. Take care! 🙂
