Zoom virtual backgrounds feature distorts

While using Zoom online conferencing, my Virtual Background distorts/pixels so badly that it must be turned off.  Is this a question of bandwidth?

@GSH50 The answer to that question, depends on whether you've tried using the webcam with alternate applications such as skype, youcam or cyberlink, etc...and continues to have similar issues? If yes, it could be the bandwidth or the webcam itself, troubleshooting would be in order.
