Hi @sudipsingha,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand that the fingerprint scanner stopped working after a software update.

Meanwhile, please provide your HP model/product number and the Windows version/build so we can check the appropriate driver.

Please try the following:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand biometric devices.
  3. Check whether the fingerprint reader is listed.
  4. If it is listed, right-click it and select Update driver.
  5. If that does not help, select Uninstall device, restart the computer, and allow Windows to reinstall the driver.
  6. Then go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello) and check whether you can set up the fingerprint again.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
