Hello @lorne3,
As previously stated, the fan should be controlled by the BIOS. One of the main functions of the BIOS is to monitor the temperature and adjust the operating conditions. I am not aware of any diagnostics that would test if there are drivers doing the same.
Regards!

Hello, I just received that notification in my HP Support Assistant. I also have updated to the W10 Anniversary update last week and we also have the same laptop. I would like to ask how did you know that you were on the version 30.63.1610.8 ? And I'm just wondering if you updated? Or have you found the solution to the problem? Thank you so much.

I tried to install the hp assistant update and it would NOT install so i checked driver versions and saw the conflict. When i originally brought up the issue, hp told me it had just been a few days since the W10 Anniversary update so give them some time. Now we are say 1 and 1/2 months later and this is still not fixed. When the assistant says to update the driver i just keep marking it to advise me again in 30 days. Pretty lame HP!

I contacted the HP Chat Support and asked them about the issue. They answered my questions and explained it to me so I won't worry. They said my laptop was fine. They even said that the w10 anniversary updates doesn't have anything to do with the drivers. And I saw that we didn't have the same driver versions... I think you should try that contacting them through that so you can clear yourself from this problem.
