I just purchased my new laptop, Windows 10 first time user, I took it to an IT guy because I am surprised how slow it is when clicking on things or loading pages......He seemed to think something was defective. Also, the touchpad does not respond all the time.....and I cannot find anywhere to adjust the "sensitivity" of the touchpad. I am thinking I need to return my laptop??

Hi there @PammyJ,
Thank you for joining in on the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great place to ask questions, find solutions and get help from others in the community! I read your post on the HP Support Forums. I wanted to reach out to you and help! I understand that you are having an issue with the Touchpad as well as slow performance on your HP Notebook - 15-ac121dx Notebook PC. You had mentioned that the Notebook is being slow when you click on things or try to load pages.
Have you tried going into Safe Mode to see if the problems persist in there?
Have you tried to Uninstall the Touchpad Driver, Restart your Notebook twice, then Reinstall the Touchpad Driver?
Have you tried using an external mouse to see if it is only the Touchpad?
Have you done a BIOS reset
Have you tried doing updates using the HP Support Assistant?
Have you downloaded anything in the last couple of days before this started?
Here is a document for you called Using the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 10). This document can help you with the issues you are having with the Touchpad as you had mentioned that it is not responding all of the time.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating.
You could also try to use the Increasing System Performance and Maintaining Your Computer document. Use the information in this document to control when applications run, adjust how your computer uses memory resources, and reduce heat inside your computer. This could help you troubleshoot the Slow Performance issues you are experiencing.
Please let me know if I answered your question by clicking the 'Thumbs up' if the troubleshooting steps in this post resolved the issue for you please click the 'Accept as Solution' button. This will allow other's who have the same issue to find the solution also. If you require further assistance, I would be more than happy to continue to help you! Please just re-post with the results of the troubleshooting.
Thanks! 🙂
