taking notes on OneNote, issue with computer or pen?

HP ENVY x360 15-cn0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good afternoon, I am a college student and I own an HP ENVY x360 15-cn0xxx. I really want to use my computer to take notes. However, I bought the surface pen and I'm running into trouble. I've been using OneNote to take notes and once in a while when I write, the lines become dotted. I have tried running the touchscreen check and I'm sure my touchscreen is working well. I believe that what happens, is that whenever I put my laptop in a notetaking position, the keys are hitting the table and running a command so OneNote leaves the 'drawing mode'. Any solutions/suggestions? I really want to be able to use my computer to take handwritten notes; it is too much work when this starts happening as it slows me down.

After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that your computer is compatible with HP pen.

Let's try this:

Try this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/products/identify?q=HP%20ENVY%20X360%2015-Cn0xxx&filter=-1&origin=pdp and choose the exact computer model number in order to download the drier firmware.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

The original firmware is aviable on HP webiste:https://support.hp.com/us-en/products/identify?q=HP%20ENVY%20X360%2015-Cn0xxx&filter=-1&origin=pdp

And, aslo you can install the system latest software using Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:

  • Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  • Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  • Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  • Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  • Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

I suggest you can perform complete system factory recovery which will reinstall windows original software and drivers shipped with the computer.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install Windows operating system.

Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06162205 to Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7)

Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04758961#AbT3 to perform a System Recovery (Windows 10)
