Hello! My laptop had preinstalled windows 10 when I bought it about 5 years ago. I did a format last year but did not use my original windows product key. Is there any way I can retrieve my original windows product key now? Microsoft site says in case of preinstalled windows contact manufacturer.

Windows 10 is authorized using a digital key linked to the hardware signature.  Assuming this laptop has been connected to the internet and used in this manner, then the initial product key is still associated with this hardware signature.  You can use product key retrieval software but the product key is not necessary.  Unless there is some special reason to know the original  key, it is not needed for most things.  As stated, Windows 10 uses a digital key and does so by connecting thru the internet.
