Hi there,
My HP active pen does not register inputs unless I press it hard. e.g. If I want to draw very light lines by letting the pen tip touching the screen lightly, it doesn't draw anything. Is the pen faulty? I bought the spectre 360 six months ago, just started using the pen.
Thanks,
D

Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums.
I see from your post that you are having issues with the HP Active pen not working properly on your HP notebook.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
What is the product number of your notebook? Use this link to find it: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
Have you tried to check for the pen control software for your active pen on our HP Support website.
Have you tried to "Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input" in Windows? Just search that in the Windows Start Menu and hit "Calibrate."
Have you tried to update the Bios?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
I would suggest you to update the Bios and Chipset drivers on your PC from our HP Support website, using this link.
I would recommend you install the latest HP Pen control, If available on our HP support website.
Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.
If the issue persists, uninstall the keyboard drivers from device manager and restart the computer.
- Please right-click on start>select device manager>Expand Keyboards>Right-click on the listed drivers and uninstall them. Then restart the computer and check again if the issue is fixed.
- If it continues, please replace the stylus battery and check again if it gets resolved.
- If it persists, please try to perform the prescribed troubleshooting steps from this link: HP PCs - Touch Screen Stylus Pen Is Inaccurate or Stops Working
I hope this should do the trick. Let me know how it goes for further assistance.
Hope this answers your question.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

Thanks for your reply. I have tried everything you mentioned. The problem is still there. I think the problem is the pen, it is not very sensitive. I am not sure if the tilt function works at all. The HP Pen Control installation file also showed an error. Can I get a replacement pen please or Do you have a store in London where I could try a different pen?

Thank you for replying,
After reviewing your post thoroughly, I did go through the specifications and found that your PC does support Active stylus and here's the part number which is supported by your PC.
Stylus (active pen, Sunwoda):
In dark ash silver finish 920241-001
In natural silver finish 910942-001
Please find the correct software link to download and install the HP Pen control: Click here
I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...
HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊
