Hey there,
i have got the Aero 13 and i guess after the newest BIOS-Update (F24!) the USB-C alt mode stopped working as many of your models. Whats that?
Please don't bother me with: did you check your cables, try another one. Have a look in your specifications.. Stop!
Nothing changes on my workdesk, but the Bios update. i demand that you either make rollbacks possible for the device(s) or gave me my money back. i paid for something, you cant take me away after i purchased?!
Kind regards

Hey there,
i forgot this thread here, sorry.
What works was (as mentioned from the live chat from HP):
- shut down
- press WIN + B and hold, press Power button
- release power button
- hold WIN + B until a message appears
it completely resets the current bios/firmware.
After that, it continue to work as normal. And fixed the issue, that Gigabit ethernet wasn't throttled to ~250 Mbit any longer! that made me nuts.
what a mess.

Hi @Carsten006,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your Aero 13 lost USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode right after updating to BIOS F24, and everything worked perfectly before. Let’s go through a few steps focused only on what actually changed—the firmware.
Check whether BIOS F24 disabled USB-C DP internally
• Open BIOS → Advanced → Device Configuration.
• Make sure USB-C Port Configuration and Thunderbolt/DP Alt Mode (if shown) are still enabled.
(Updates sometimes flip these settings even when nothing else changed.)
Load BIOS Defaults after the update
• In BIOS, select Restore Defaults → Save & Exit.
• Reboot, then test the USB-C display again.
• This clears any corrupted NVRAM values introduced by the firmware update.
Update the chipset and Thunderbolt/USB-C controller drivers
• Install the latest AMD/Intel chipset driver package for the Aero 13.
• Also install the latest USB-C PD/Alt-Mode controller firmware package (if listed).
(BIOS updates often require re-matching the controller firmware.)
Reinstall graphics drivers
• Install the latest graphics drivers from Gigabyte’s support page.
• USB-C DisplayPort relies on the GPU’s DP interface—mismatch after BIOS updates is common.
Cold power cycle to reset USB-C PD controller
• Shut down the laptop completely.
• Disconnect the charger and all USB-C cables.
• Hold the power button for 20 seconds, then restart.
• This resets the USB-C power delivery/Alt Mode controller at the hardware level.
I hope this helps.
