Background light dims on screen when on a zoom call. Could this be a camera issue with the laptop?

HP - ENVY x360 2-in-1 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 12GB Memory - 512GB SSD + 32GB Optane - Natural Silver. Model:15m-ed1023dx.

 We just purchased this laptop and have noticed that whenever we are on a zoom (or skype) call, the display on our screen  seems to change brightness (light gets brighter and dimmer). Other people we video conference with do not have this problem. We have moved the laptop to other areas of the house which are all well lit. This happens in daytime or at night. Wonder if anyone has had a similar experience.

Request you to follow the below troubleshooting steps,

Record the video from the camera app is the issue on the webcam.

if it's only happening on zoom/skype, it could be app settings, check if there's a way to increase brightness by contacting the app manufacturer.
