Hi, I have a hp pavilion dv6-6135dx and the screen is damaged, I have been using a external monitor. But I need to reinstall Windows and I cannot get the bios to show up on the external monitor. I have tried
- closing the lid
- holding Windows key and p while booting
- fn key and f4 key
Thanks in Advanced.

Dear Customer,
The only way to enter bios in a broken laptop screen is to unplug the main laptop broken screen from the inverter in order the system to identify vga output as the only monitor.
This covers many different brands and not just HP. The external monitor is not activated until Windows is loaded. The notebook will otherwise function normally. You just won't be able to access the BIOS unless you replace the notebook's LCD screen.
