HP Pavilion x360 Laptop - 14-dh2075cl
Microsoft Windows 11

My PC running windows 11, gets blue screen with stop code, critical errors or exception. This happens 2 to 3 times a day.

When error occurs, the PC starts to overheat. It must be powered down and power on again to use. 

All diagnostics successfully passed. All updates HP and Microsoft have been installed. 

Microsoft support says it is HP problem.

 

I need help here.

Dealing with blue screen errors and overheating can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issues on your HP Pavilion X360 running Windows 11. Here's a guide to help you.

 

1. Update Drivers:

Ensure that all your device drivers are up to date, especially graphics, chipset, and network drivers. Visit the official HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your laptop model.

2. Check for Windows Updates:

Make sure your Windows 11 operating system is fully updated. Microsoft periodically releases updates that may address stability issues and improve system performance.

3. Check for BIOS Updates:

Visit the HP support website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop. Sometimes, BIOS updates can address hardware-related issues.

4. Run Windows Memory Diagnostic:

  • Press Win + R, type mdsched.exe, and press Enter.
  • Choose "Restart now and check for problems."
  • Let the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool run and check for any memory-related issues.

5. Check for Malware:

Run a full system scan with a reliable antivirus or antimalware program to ensure your system is not infected.

6. Check Event Viewer:

Look for error messages in the Event Viewer. Press Win + X and select "Event Viewer." Check the "Windows Logs" for entries related to the crashes.

7. Adjust Power Settings:

  • Open the "Power & sleep settings."
  • Click on "Additional power settings" and choose a balanced power plan.

8. Monitor Temperature:

Use tools like HWMonitor or Open Hardware Monitor to check the temperature of your CPU and GPU. Overheating could lead to system instability.

9. Check Disk Health:

Run a disk check to ensure your storage drive is healthy. Open a Command Prompt as an administrator and type chkdsk /f then restart your computer to allow the check to run.

10. Reset or Reinstall Windows:

If all else fails, consider resetting or reinstalling Windows 11. This can help eliminate any software-related issues.

 

Remember to back up your important data before attempting major changes to your system.

Thanks for the response. My Issue with BSOD continues as before, 3 to 4 times a day. 

I have talked to Microsoft support 3 times and have installed all the changes and driver updates they suggested. I have run windows and hardware diagnostics also.

I now feel that my only course of action is to re-install windows 11. 

What really concerns me that in normal environment when PC is working well, the notebook is cool all the way around, no sign of any overheating. When the BSOD occurs, left top corner of the notebook starts to overheat. It appears to me that when the failure occurs, some process leaves the hardware in state where the hardware is allowed to or forced to overheat. This is not good a design practice. When a process dies for whatever reason, it should make sure that hardware is not left in condition where equipment can burn up. You can barely touch the area that is overheating.

The BSOD occurs in many different ways with stop code followed by critical process died or system service exception or several different messages.  

I will continue to try some more avenues you suggested. The final will be as you suggested re-intall windows. That is very cumbersome since I have many many apps installed.
