HP Pavilion 15-p030nl
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

It has been suddenly impossible to set the screen brightness both with f2-f3 and from the control panel or the power management section.

I have never updated any driver since when I bought my laptop at the end of 2014. Could that be the reason? what could I do?

The screen works properly and I can see it clearly, but this brightness problem is quite annoying..

Hi,

Download and reinstall the Intel HD Graphics driver on the following link.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp68001-68500/sp68117.exe

When the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load for a few minutes before checking.

Hi,

There are a few possibilities, though most likely would be a bad update to the gpu driver.

Hi!!

your solution really fixed my problem, so thanks !!!

I would ask you if you suggest me to install the updates that are displayed as available in my HP-support tool.

I know that sometimes the upgrades can bring some problem to the operative system, but as I have never upgraded any driver or else for my laptop since I bought it, I would like to be sure about what to do.

Thanks again
