HP Spectre x360 Convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The image quality of the built-in webcam on my laptop is pretty poor.  I have already tried adjusting the camera settings and using the HP Webcam Troubleshooting FAQ guide that has been linked to in other threads, however, none of these options fix the issues.

I am operating with good lighting and using the highest quality image selection in the settings.   I've attached an example picture below.

Hi,

Looks like it does not have enough light. Like any canera, good light gives better pictures

Regards.

There is plenty of light, which is why my face looks so bright in the image.  The entire room is also lit up.

Also, it would be equally helpful to know if the built-in webcam is just this poor of quality so I can look for something new.  If there is something wrong with mine though and the picture quality could be much better by adjusting some settings, then I'd like to try that before doing anything different

As much as I like this device, I can't find ANYONE saying that the webcam is good.  I have the exact same quality and HP needs to quit saying there is a lighting issue.  I don't understand why such a poor quality camera was put into such an otherwise awesome device...makes no sense.

Agreed. I went out and bought a webcam and it has MUCH higher quality even in worse lighting conditions.

That's pretty much my conclusion as well boilers86.  With that being said...HP should be offering Spectre 360 owners either HEAVILY discounted offers on the webcams in their store or just an outright freeby with valid Spectre serial numbers.

Yeah...I'm talking to you HP...all you had to do was make sure the webcam was decent and you would have had what I consider your most awesome device to date but now I've got to pony up more cash for another webcam so I'll always have one handy with the Spectre since I travel frequently for business.

That is such a lazy response. If I use a plugged in Webcam without changing conditions of ligthing, etc, my plugged in one is WAY better. The built-in camera is garbage still.

Garbage is a proper term to describe HP x360 webcams. All of them. No exception.
