HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-f0000 (39H22AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, my HP Spectre 360 16 laptop updated BIOS yesterday and since then the camera shutter button on the keyboard is stuck to off (LED light is red); The camera is working, enabled, etc. for apps.  And I have updated windows and checked the drivers on the camera.  Everything is up to date.  It's just that the shutter button won't turn off in order for me to appear on the camera.  Please advise how to resolve this issue.  Thank you.

I have the same exact model as this post and had a BIOS update yesterday as well! I wanted to add to this post and say that I tried updating my drivers, searching for new updates, and tried resetting the PC. Nothing appears to be working.

Same problem here. Did every troubleshooting step under the sun. Hard to believe this many individuals are suddenly having hardware issues, must be related to the BIOS update.

Elohi, many of your customers do not have automatic updates on and many do not use their webcams - but, I assure you, those that took part in the recent update and use their webcam, have an issue. The camera button on the laptop is stuck to off and can't be changed. I have daily webcam meetings with my employees, so, this is a huge issue. We all know what happens when we start a ticket...we are trapped for 2 hours doing the exact same things we have already done. Can you please research the issue and let us know if there is a fix yet or not? Thank you. Heather

Same issue, and I really need the camera for meetings.

Hi, I spent several hours with HP support last week and after all the remote troubleshooting, including restoring to factory settings, and it's determined to be a hardware issue (which I have a hard time believing since this all happened after the BIOS and update last week).  During the testing, we also discovered I can't hold the power key down for 10 seconds + to power down - this doesn't work either.

Result: I have to send my laptop in to HP to have the keyboard replaced, at a cost since I'm out of warranty.

Good luck with your issue!

I wouldn't do it. If we keep on them, they will release what it takes to fix it. There is no way it is a hardware issue. But, thank you for posting this..this is exactly why I am not starting a ticket with them..when they don't know the fix yet, their last resort is always to ask you to send the computer to them.
