Msginsf did Best Buy charge to fix the issue (open computer and disconnect battery)?

My camera does not turn on.

The camera shutter key LED light on the keyboard remains on no matter how many times I press it to turn it off. My webcam is practically useless.

I need help.

From what I can see, everyone using this HP model ( HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC) is experiencing the same issue.

Hi, I had the same problem and found a simpler solution which does not require to open the device or to stress the battery by letting it run empty.

Just shutdown the notebook and hold WIN+B keys while you power it on again and keep both keys pressed for some time. This will start a BIOS reset. After this reset was finished and the notebook restarted again the issue was solved in my case. So this is definetly a BIOS (update) issue.

Hope this helps.

Does this reset your laptop to factory settings or wipe your files or anything when resetting the bios? Have this same issue, but concerned about losing my files etc.

Have had the same issue and worked through every possible fix, but nothing works. Seems it's clearly a known bios update issue, so the fact they seem to be charging people to fix it is rather unfair.

A BIOS reset should not cause data loss or change OS settings. I also did not notice any change to BIOS settings.

Problem solved. I unscrewed the computer, disconnected the battery, and again reconnected it. After I switched it back on, the shutter key worked. I am afraid to turn off the camera using the shutter key again.

Hi, you need to unscrew the back of the laptop, remove the battery for a few seconds and put it back it.  That's what worked for me.

What type of screwdriver did you use to remove the back?  I am having trouble finding one that works.

I took it to Best Buy and the Geek Squad technician did it for me. It didn't cost me anything because I have a warrant in effect at the moment.
