@11MAR

What is your HP 17cxx  machine ? Do you mean to use USB-A to HDMI adapter ? With a DisplayLink Certified adapter such as

             USB to HDMI Adapter

that should work.

Sorry for the delay.  More to do than time to do it in.

HP Laptop 17-cn2xx is the best I can tell you.  I'm a> blind (legally if blind is legal) and b > living in Guatemala refitting my boat for another cruise to ???.  My old HP Laptop that had both an HDMI poort and a DVD drive died and my brother boughtthis for me and shipped ito me.  It has 2 USB-A and 1 USB-C ports and no DVD.

I think the solution is an U|SB-C to HDMI adapter and then eigher a flatscreen TV opr a 36" gaming monitor.

Those are4 power hogs, but will work for now.

Once the conversation from a diesel to an electric motor is ocmplete, |I will have to find a lass power hungry solution for hte navigation system.

At sea, everything wants a U|SB and I end up needing 7 ports.

The question I have with this apparent bare bones laptop is does the graphics card have what it will take too run an external monitor.
