I want to buy Samsung's c34j791 monitor. I would like to know if my specter laptop is compatible with this monitor.
1. I want to know the exact version of my laptop's HDMI port.
2. I want to know if my laptop and c34j791 monitor are compatible with each other normally, and what connection method to use.

The specs of your machine is:
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05411224
It has HDMI v2.0 output support up to 3840×2160 at 60 Hz with HDCP 2.2 and it also supports DP 1.2 via Thunderbolt™ 3 with an adapter.
The monitor supports Thunderbolt™ 3 connection and your machine also has 1 Thunderbolt™ 3 port therefore in theory they should be compatible to connect using a Thunderbolt™ 3 cable.
Using Thunderbolt™ 3 connection you can also daisy chain monitors up to max resolution and refresh rate supported.
Regards.
