The specs for the Pavilion 15-cs0010np state that it supports DisplayPort 1.2 over USB-C (https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06040678)
I am trying to connect it to a DisplayPort monitor: Dell U2719D, using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable (CableMatters 201036)
Windows (10 x64) states that "Display connection might be limited", and in device manager, there is just a "CableMatters USB-C Video Cable" listed, no monitor. Windows does not detect any external monitor. The monitor does not detect any DisplayPort signal from the laptop.
Things I have already tried:
- Rebooting
- Updating drivers
- Checking for windows updates
- Plugging and un-plugging
So, can anyone clarify where the incompatibility lies? Something is not being honest about its capabilities, but I don't know what it is.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge) installed on the PC.
Firstly,
- Locate a USB-C or Thunderbolt™ port on your system that supports video output. ...
- Use a method below to connect your computer to the external display.
- Change the input on the external display to the connection type that you are using. ...
- Right-click an empty area on the computer desktop screen, then click Display Settings.
- Click Multiple Displays, then select your desired display option.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, as I said in my post, the specifications state that the USB-C port supports DisplayPort. I provided the same link you did.
Unfortunately, connecting a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to connect it to a DisplayPort Monitor does not work, in the way I described in my post alread.
I suspect that the specifications are incorrect. I would appreciate it if someone could confirm the actual capabilities of the USB-C port on the Pavilion 15-cs0010np and check if perhaps the published specifications have mis-represented it as supporting DisplayPort when it, in fact, does not.

Sorry, no, I wasn't. I am completely convinced that the specifications page is misleading and contains incorrect information about the capabilities of the cs0010np. It does not support DisplayPort over USB-C.

I agree about the misrepresentation. I researched my machines compatibility with a specific VR headset for days. HP documentation and literature said it will work. But no. It functions but video is rotated and distorted. Now HP says this was never intended to work even though logos printed ON THE MACHINE say it is compatible.
Disappointed consumer...
