Cant change display driver from Microsoft basic driver to Amd Radeon in Games

Hello Everyone,

                              I have recently purchased a hp laptop model no- Hp bs-659tx . Recently encountering a problem , default primary display driver is selected which is "Microsoft Basic Render Driver".For this reason I cant change the feature in Games. So If there is any option  by which I can disable Microsoft Basic Render Driver & use Amd Radeon as primary display driver. Also in "dxdiag" it is showing  "Microsoft Basic Render Driver" as primary display driver.

Please help me with this issue, as I need it very badly.Googled to much great extent, but cant find  any permanent solution.

Hi:

I see that your notebook came with FreeDOS, which means that you, or someone else had to install the Windows drivers.

You are missing something regarding the graphics drivers if you see a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter listed anywhere.

Your model comes with the Intel/AMD switchable graphics, which means you have to install both the applicable Intel graphics driver as well as the AMD graphics driver.

So...Based on the specs for your model, you need to install these graphics drivers...

Thanks Paul_Tikkanen for your prompt reply. I cant understand what both the drivers comprise of?

Are they of different versions? Plz brief me about this.

You're very welcome.

The AMD/Intel switchable graphics driver is kind of a misnomer. 

The driver installs the AMD graphics adapter and it is configured to work with the onboard Intel HD graphics adapter, but there isn't an Intel graphics driver included like there used to be in notebooks made several years ago.

That is why you have to install the standalone Intel HD graphics driver, restart the PC and then install the AMD/Intel graphics driver.

If you see the AMD graphics adapter listed under the display adapters device manager category, I am sure you are missing the Intel graphics driver.  The Microsoft basic display adapter is the Intel graphics adapter missing the driver.

Until you install both drivers, the graphics will not work at all.

Well I have tried installing the software from the links yuou have provided earlier,but of no use.

It's still showing as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter in "dxdiag". Please suggest any other means of disabling the driver from Microsoft & using Amd as primary display driver.

Unfortunately, I don't know what the issue can be.  That driver should have installed the Intel HD graphics adapter.

The only other suggestion I can offer would be to try the other Intel graphics drivers from your notebook's support page.
