I am getting a white screen in Windows 10 after login. I am also unable to boot into Safe Mode to remove the old driver and install another. As far as Safe Mode is concerned, I press Esc on power up and then F11 but it still boots into normal mode. No options show. With the white screen I can't enter any application to change the driver. The laptop is in a Homegroup and I have another PC in the same Homegroup from which I can see the laptop file system but psexec doesn't allow me to remotely run programs or installations. I'm a bit stuffed, really, and would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,
Let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the notebook:
Before power resetting your computer, do the following:
-
Disconnect or remove all peripheral devices. Start up the laptop and test the computer by itself, and then reconnect one peripheral device at a time.
-
Turn over the computer and look for a battery compartment door.
-
If there is a battery compartment, use the steps in Reset a laptop with a removable battery.
-
If there is no battery compartment, use the steps in Reset a laptop with a sealed or non-removable battery.
-
I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults. You could restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. That way it will look at the Hardware installed on the Notebook.
Once done, restart the computer and check.
If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to perform a system recovery using the partition available on your PC.
You may go through the steps suggested in this support document for - Performing an HP System Recovery
If for some reason, the recovery fails, then is could either be due to partition is missing or the partition is corrupted then the only option would be to perform a recovery using the recovery media. To know more about obtaining a set of recovery media, please click here
I would recommend you contact our HP support team for ordering a set of recovery media for your PC.
