Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 15.6" Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9Y1AV) suddenly shows a black screen, here’s a complete set of steps to help you troubleshoot and recover it:
Step-by-Step Fix for Black Screen on HP 15-d5000
1. Perform a Hard Reset
This clears temporary hardware states and power issues.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and all peripherals.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect only the AC adapter and try powering on.

2. Check for Signs of Life
- Do you hear fan noise, or see keyboard backlight or LEDs?
- If yes, the issue may be with the display or graphics driver.
3. Connect an External Monitor
- Use HDMI or USB-C to connect to an external display.
- Press F4 or the key with a monitor icon to switch display modes.
- If the external monitor works, your laptop screen may be faulty, or the graphics driver may be corrupted.
4. Try BIOS Recovery
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds.
- Release all keys and wait up to 40 seconds.
- If successful, the BIOS recovery screen will appear.
5. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
- Turn on the laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then press F2.
- Run System Tests > Fast Test and Component Tests > Display and Memory.
