Hi, I have a HP Pavilion dv6 A3D56PA#ACJ and it has a Radeon HD 6770M graphics hardware and Intel Core i7-2670QM. I updated the Radeon software as it was coming to do so in the device manager. I have been encountering problems since. I tried to uninstall the software and installed the Radeon Crimson 15.11. It worked until I tried to look at it's settings. Since then the driver in the device manager has been displaying it as Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. Please help as the display is not proper and is stretched.

Try updating the BIOS, Audio and chipset drivers on your PC and check if it helps.
Open this link and type in your product details to download the drivers:- Click here
I hope that helps.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I recommend you uninstall the graphics driver from device manager and then download and install it from the below link.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55092.exe
Here is how it is done.
- Type "Device Manager" into the search field to open the device manager console.
- Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
- On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
- When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.
NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thank you for replying @The_Fossette.
I tried uninstalling the driver and installing it from the given file. It gave an error saying "Failed to load detection driver.
Before this i had installed the Radeon Crimson 16.2.1. It worked fine until I opened the settings and tried to access video settings for it. Then the laptop crashed with a message on blue screen saying that hardware or hardware driver has not installed properly/ is not compatible.
What should I do? Should I install the Crimson 16.2.1 and don't access settings or do something else?
Thank you once again for replying.

Hi, @Sandytechy20.
Thank you for responding to my query.
It has successfully tackled the display driver problem but one problem still remains.
The BIOS does not seem to be updating. Every time I run the .exe file for the update, the screen freezes and the laptop automatically restarts. I hope that it won't affect my display. Also is this update really necessary?
Thank you once again for solving my problem.

Update the BIOS using HP support assistant application, as that should install only the updates for your computer.
Installing updates not meant for your device may cause issues as the one you've mentioned.
Refer this HP document for the steps to use HPSA:- Click here
I hope that helps.
