Hi, I've followed the link to the support pages, which sends you to a link for the monitoring troubleshooting, I've visited the troubleshooting pages but here
it talks about Digital Output Device (I've never seen this device listed) or Realtek HDMI Output - I've not seen this device either. I can't find any drivers on the HP website and in any case, I'm using the audio jack plugged into the headphone socket for sound, not sound sent digitally via the HDMI cable - so none of these options appear to help.
If you have any further advice, I'm ready to hear it!
Many thanks.

Hi @AndrewT_, I am the Jeet_singh. It looks like you were interacting with @Resolv_S, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
Thank you for replying,
I appreciate your time and efforts,
I understand you have tried the steps suggested in the previous post and still having an issue with no sound. Let me go ahead and assist you from here.
Since you have already tried to uninstall and reinstall the video drivers, I would suggest here is to update the bios and chipset drivers, using this link.
Along with that, I would suggest here is to run the video test from F2, using this link.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.
If you wish to help others looking for the same solution as you've found, mark the post as Accepted Solution.
If you wish to show appreciation for my effort, please click the Thumbs up icon at the bottom of my comment.
And I Hope you have a good day, Ahead.

Thank you for the links - I managed to install the Realtek drivers and everything appears to be working correctly, even using the HDMI cable to provide sound as well - no more need of the headphone jack!
Although I'd like to mention that the Realtek install process is multi-step - it uninstalls the old driver, restarts the pc and then installs the new driver - I don't know if it was because I didn't have a driver installed initially, but after it had restarted the notebook for the 8th time - I began to get suspicous that it was stuck in an endless loop - after the 8th restart I decided to cancel the process - I didn't seem to have any problems after cancelling, but it's worth pointing out for other users.
Thanks again.
