Hi,
I have an Elitebook 840 G2 with Intel HD Graphics 5500. I can connect a second monitor Vga to Vga and it works fine. On that same monitor, if I connect with a Vga (laptop) to Hdmi (monitor), the monitor receives no signal.
Connecting another laptop to that same monitor with an hdmi cable works fine.
I have updated the graphic card drivers but it still doesn't work.
Does anyone have any tip on what could be the problem or what I could be trying/checking next?
Thanks in advance!
Carlos

From VGA (analog) to HDMI (digital) you need a proper converter. What is your cable which you use to connect them ?
Regards.

I've run into this same issue on laptops -- so disconnect the VGA cable and see if the HDMI-connected monitor then works.
My bet is it will.
And if it does, that means you can't have BOTH a VGA and HDMI connection on the same laptop -- as that is true with mine.

Thanks for your reply!
I'm using a cable that is vga on one end and hdmi on the other, bought in amazon. This one: https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B07CTK4TH4/
In the meantime I also tried to connect the monitor using my DisplayPort and the DisplayPort of the monitor, so DP to DP, and it also didn't work. The only way to get the laptop to work on a second monitor seems to be Vga to Vga.
Unfortunately, the monitor I want to use doensn't have a Vga port 🙂
