"Besides, a universal USB/Thunderbolt dock should work with all USB/Thunderbolt devices." -> Totaly agree...

And it was indeed my question - thank you @Brinkgt

A little update : I've noticed that it is not really the computer/windows sleep mode that produces this behaviour.

But it is just the screen sleep mode / powersave. (Turned on also obviously while the laptop goes to sleep mode but could occur before depending on your power settings).

So a little trick is to increase the time the screen goes to sleep mode (I put it to 1h) and eventually add a screensaver.

Hi,
I have very same issue.

Spectre X360  (13-aw0xxx),

Thunderbolt G2 120w dock,

1 external monitor (LG 27UD88 4K) over USB-C or DP

windows 10 home 64 bit version 2004

intel iris plus graphics driver 26.20.100.7810

When computer sleeps or screen is turned off after time, it won't wake up again a monitor shows "no signal". It's really annoying.

Is there any follow up from HP ? Driver update ?

Thank you.

I have a similar problem with HP ZBook  Studio 360 with HP Thunderbolt Dock 230W G2 with Windows 10 Pro (1909) and Intel UHD Graphics 630 graphic device. Have been re-installing all drivers, updating the dock firmware. Still, when the I leave the laptop at night and return in the morning, the monitor is no longer detected - I have to unplug the dock and re-plug it (sometime may need to power the dock off) to get the monitor detected.

This is obviously a bug in HP's Dock firmware that HP is not willing to acknowledge or fix. This is a big disappointment. HP support did not help. I would recommend against buying the HP Thunderbolt Dock G2.

Some additional information after extended watching:

  1. The laptop night sleep does not seem very relaxed - the external monitor screen connected to the dock gets turned on every few minutes only to go back to sleep shortly thereafter (this does not happen with the built-in display).
  2. In the morning, when I wake up the laptop by touching the (external) keyboard it does not recognize the external monitor but if I wait a couple of minutes (possibly the same period of nightly auto-wakeups), it gets detected.
  3. The external monitor I use is a DELL dell 24 " touch monitor P2418ht.

How does one go back to Intel Iris driver version 25.20.10.7060 if they have already installed the most recent?

UPDATE: after updating the firmware of the HP Thunderblot G2 and uninstalling/reinstalling the Thunderbolt drivers of the system (and with the latest Windows 10 update 2004), I am happy to report that the dock now seems to behave well - no wake up issues,. My monitor is connected via DisplayPort to the right hand DP port (the one located closer to the power input).

In the device manager (used view option to show hidden devices), I now now see the device "Thunderbolt(TM) Controller - 15EB"  by Intel with version 17.4.78.21 from 9/6/2018.

As for the dock, at first I found https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Thunderbolt-Dock-G2-Firmware-U... mentioned sp95855.exe in HP's SoftPaq. I looked for it but then I saw it was replaced with a newer one spP98906.exe - I installed it but there are some manual steps one needs to do to update the dock - in the C:\SWSetup\SP98906\Firmware\Intel there is ThunderboltUpdaterDevice.exe that updated the dock to a new version and once that was done, I was able to run "C:\SWSetup\SP98906\Manageability\HPFirmwareInstaller64.msi" and "C:\SWSetup\SP98906\HPFirmwareInstaller.exe"

Hello,

I have also issues with two external monitors (iiyama 27") which connected via DisplayPort through the HP Thunderbolt Dock G2.

Beside Display Port connection I have also a DisplayLink USB graphic card which is connected to 3. iiyama monitor 27"

Overall I have 3 iiyama monitors with the same model in use.

Two monitors connected via DisplayPort trough HP Dock G2.

Third one connected via USB 3.0 graphic card on the G2 Dock.

The issue is, once my 3 . Monitors switch to sleep mode (not my zbook 15 G4) just monitors, after moving my mouse or touch keyboard to wake up my monitors, just the monitor where is connected via USB 3.0 external graphics card come up!

The other two monitors over DisplayPort which plugged in G2 Dockingstation comes not up.....

I did everythink but nothing helps so far...

- Have current windows Updates installed

- Have current HP Driver and Firmware installed (Official HP web site)

- Have current HP G2 Thunderbold Software and Driver installed

- Have also installed graphic driver from vendor as well

- BIOS Fast Boot enabeld as well

I use my Zbook 15 G4 with HP Thunderbold G2 (230W) Dockingstation....

Why this happens for such kind of expensive hardware....

@HP Support - Please help and support here.

Thanks in advance.
