I have an HP EliteBook 845 G9 and a G5 dock. The second monitor would randomly disconnect and reconnect. It was very frustrating. The issue was resolved by enabling the following setting in UEFI.
Enable High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock
Please let me know if this works for anyone else.

Awesome! My monitor now blanks just once, shortly after startup, and then stays rock solid all day. This is using a G5 Thunderbolt dock, so the fix is not just restricted to USB-C docks. I've passed the info on to our IT support team, as there are some others in our business having the same issue. The question is, why doesn't HP suggest this as a fix?

I did the update yesterday morning.
After the update in the BIOS non of my screens worked (if they do not work they cannot blink 😉 ).
After powering down by pressing the power button and forcing a restart it worked again.
I have not noticed any blinking since then.
As my frequency was down to 2 times a day by other actions (cables and forced use of the NVIDEA GPU) i will keep monitoring this.

Hello Everybody,
Here is a zBook Fury 16 G10, RTX 2000 Ada, 16GB at the moment
Windows 11

Two external LGs 31" conectet on the two USB-C-ports
same issue! both monitors go black for some seconds randomly mayby twice a Day.
I don't think, that this is a dock-issue.

Hello here,
in our company we had 3 laptops zBook Fury 16 G10, RTX 2000 Ada, 64GB at the moment Windows 11.
we check for update windows , drivers and firmware daily and we are facing the same issue with HP docking 280w and also with dell docking.
We will try to return these laptops as are not able to work correctly with docking and multiple monitors.

from the 28th of june till the 15th of July i did not experience any problems.
main solutions seem to be:
- NVIDIA config set to all processing via GPU
- Enable High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock
I think Bausau should also look into this, espessially the first one as it is not dock related.
I wonder if the high resolution mode would also help in that situation as it seems all information to the monitors is send via USB-C and this mode reserves more data space for the monitor feed over USB-C while reducing network and other data transfer.
For me it worked for over 14 days with at least 4 full days of looking at the monitors without blinking.
Then i emailed our IT company that the fix works and that same afternoon it started blinking again.
Last thursday (the 11th) some updates where pushed which the laptop did not enjoin (raised a memory type discrepancy error).
As there is some roadwork i will be working from home, where i have the same dock and dare i say it no blinking for some months (since NVIDIA config change).
When i return to the office i will check on the firmware version of the dock.
I did notice a bios update of less then a month old but in the bios the enable high res mode is still true.

Good day everyone. I haven't had a problem in over half a year now, ever since changing my cables to quality HD4K DP. You'll have to look up my previous updates and a number of other members with the same trail and error.
Incidentally, in recent months where the office went with low tech with a portable docks - ones you buy from Amazon, it powered, two monitors, external keyboard and mouse and external drive, no problems. No blinking and operated fine. I agree with Carel in that there is something going on with power, configuration in sending and receiving. If the cables fixed it for me from using cheaper cables and connecting dongles failed, there is something here for HP, Dell and others to non-functionally test better to give customers the best experience rather than an unmonitored community forum to figure it out.
Again, my strongest recommendation is to report this HP so that they have the data.

I also thought I had solved the problem with installing new 8K cables per your recomendation but the issue has re-surfaced. I have had many issues with the Fury G9 and multiple components have been replaced (motherboard several times, graphics card, top cover- keyboard and a speaker). Long story short, I ended up needing to re-install windows fresh. Since this, the monitor flicking is back, multiple times per day, sometimes 1 monitor sometimes both. I have tried adjusting many settings, power management in device manager, BIOS hybrid graphics and discrete, Enable High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP. Nothing is working.
Could you please let us know your firmware versions?
My system is Fury G9 Bios 01.11.04, 280w G4 dock firmware 1.5.22.0, 2x Samsung C27 monitors with 1m 8K@60Hz DP1.4 to HDMI2.1 cables.

Hello All,
I have been having the same issue on a HP Elitebook 865 G10. On both startech usb-c dock and with usb-c to hdmi to external monitor. I have tried both old and current drivers. none seem to help. Going to try a g5 dock next and see if that makes any difference. Tried both new and old cables no difference. two different APC ups power conditioners. none seem to help. going to try opening a ticket with HP again, as the device is still under warranty.
