All videos, streaming or created, are unable to be watched, because they are zoomed in so far you cannot tell what you are watching. Started since the new update installed Win 10 latest version, I checked every setting I know or can find but nothing works. The thumbnails look correct, but when the video plays it's extremely zoomed in. The thing I just noticed is even the Youtube videos have started to display zoomed in as well whereas before today they displayed ok zoom out. i always use Google Chrome so I tried using Internet Explorer and the same issue occurs, however, the videos on my laptop play well without the issue.
I checked out the other forums related to the same issue and even tried the suggestions given for example:
- Go to Control panel - Power options
- Now click on the "Change plan settings" next to the selected power plan.
- Click on "Change advanced power settings".
- Now, expand the "Graphics settings".
- Make sure the "Maximum performance" is selected on both battery & plugged in options.
- Scroll down and expand the "Multimedia settings" and select "Maximum performance" for both battery and plugged in options for video playback.
- Apply the settings, restart your notebook and then check the performance.
- I would also recommend you to check the other settings under the advanced power options settings if the issue still persists.
But I don't seem to have the option to "Maximum Performance" in the drop box.
Please help, this is interfering in my exam preparation.
Thanks

Good day. Thank you for posting in the Hp community. I have reviewed the post. Superb troubleshooting competence and great technical understanding of the issue. Kudos to you for that. It is paramount to assist you here as you are a valued HP customer.
- Did you try a system restore and check if it gets fixed?
Let's get started here by trying steps from some of these links:
- Link 1: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-other_settings-winpc/videos-are-zoomed-... (videos are zoomed in)
- Link 2: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/apps_windows_10-winapps-appscat_music/zoomed-in-vi... (Zoomed in videos)
- Link 3: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-start/videos-are-zoomed-in/86df2922-f4f... (Videos are zoomed in)
- Link 4: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/apps_windows_10-winapps/when-watching-videos-the-p... (when watching ) videos, the picture is way zoomed in)
One of these links should fix the issue for you. If the issue persists, then
try these steps:
- Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
- Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
- Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphics drivers from this link: http://hp.com/drivers Then select the country and type the product# of the computer. Then follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers after selecting the correct the operating system.
Now check for issue resolution. if it continues, then update adobe flash player in your browsers and check again. This should fix the issue.
Other things to try:
- Try a system restore to an earlier time before this occurred by following directions from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03327545 and check if the issue gets fixed.
- Also, create a new local user account as an administrator by following directions from this link:
- Log into the new user account after restarting your computer then check in the different browsers if the issue gets fixed.
Some of the sites are third-party sites. ignore the ads, links, and images. Only follow instructions and screenshots. No check for issue resolution.popups
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
