I have a Vizio monitor that I was able to connect to my laptop via HDMI cable last month.  I did this on a number of occasions with no issues, but less than a month later I tried to do it again and it doesn't work.  The monitor says there is no signal, whereas before it was a direct connection.  I don't know what happened.  Help.

Tardis40, thank you for getting back to me.  Unfortunately, I found this article BEFORE contacting you and tried all the applicable solutions to no avail.

A.  It is the correct cable as it worked last month... it is only recently that it stopped working.

B. Sound isn't the issue as there is no video link.  HOWEVER, in "sond" window, HDMI is not even an option (headphones and speakers is one, communications headphones is the other)

C. Two options, see "B"... neither is an issue

D.  Specific issues:

1. Hard Reset... did this and did not work

2. Error Message N/A

3. Sound/No Video N/A but BIOS is up to date according to HP Assistant

4. Surroundsound N/A

5. HDMI icon disappeared... thought this would solve issue, but tried 3 different times and doesn't work

6. "always working" N/A

7. "Not plugged in" N/A

Any other suggestions?  Thanks.

Hi,

Were you able to find a solution?  I have the same problem. My hp warranty expired, so I don't know that I can open a case like they advised you.

Thank you,

Same problem. My G72 used to connect to my Vizio (LED) and my Panasonic (Plasma) in Windows 7. Recently updated to Window10, and now receive the same "no signal" message as previously reported. Have tried many fixes in control panel, display without success. Would appreciate any help.

The drivers that get installed during Windows 10 upgrade do not support, for example, switchable graphics feature (on older laptops like G72) . HDMI no longer works. As recommended on forums - to fix HDMI you can install AMD_UnifL/Catalyst_16.2.1_UnifL_v1.0.exe drivers like I did.
