HP Laptop PC 15s-fr2000
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi everyone,

I'm using an HP 15s-fr2006TU laptop, and I've been facing a strange issue recently. Whenever I turn on the microphone — whether it's using WhatsApp voice messages, voice typing, voice recorder, or any app that accesses the mic — my laptop's display starts flickering like something which is unusable.

The flickering stops as soon as I stop using/turn off the microphone from settings.

I tried checking for malware, updating Windows, and restarting, but the issue persists. I also tried for uninstaling and reinstalling, updating the display and audio drivers but nothing helped.  Ultimately reinstalled windows itself, but no use.

Has anyone else faced this issue with this model or similar HP laptops? Could this be a driver conflict or hardware problem?

I'd appreciate any suggestions or fixes.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Jorell11. Thanks for reply.

I also tried microsoft teams and zoom. The flickering occurs only when i turn on my microphone to speak with my colleagues. If i mute, the flickering stops. Its not just with whatsapp, the flickering happens with every app that turns on my laptop microphone

Hello,

I have just started having the same issue with one difference - my microphone(integrated) does not even record anything and when I activate sound recorder, it doesn't detect the microphone.

I have tried everything mentioned above as well as reformatting my laptop. I no longer know what to do. Could you please give me suggestions?

heres a test to try.... go grab  pair of earbuds with a microphone (preferrably) usb not wireless this needs a be a wired pair....

now if you have them as a 3.5 that's fine, however usb ones work better.... now when you connect them u will need to open this on your laptop (audio in device manager )  can you take a pic and show me whats there only in the audio section
