I bought this laptop about a year ago for school and some gaming when away from my desktop. About a week ago a line of pixels on my screen appeared, I have googled fixes for this and have tried most of them; I've updated the intel graphics drivers and have also tried some of the older (outdated) drivers, I have also updated the nvidia drivers. I've looked at the bios and the lines appear there as well, I'm begining to think it may be an issue with the monitor and might need to be replaced.

Hello @Bitstorm ,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand you are experiencing vertical lines with the display. I'll do what I can to help! I would try the troubleshooting in this document: Display Quality Issues

If the issue is not resolved by trying these steps, you are probably experiencing a hardware issue. I would contact HP phone support for assistance. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks!

My 2 yr old Envy dv6 is having exactly the same vertical line problem, just like these people:

2) http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video/Vertical-line-on-my-new-HP-Envy-15-Notebook/...

I had one vertical line show up & now there's two 1 cm apart - I fear the display's going & that it's definitely a hardware problem. I also have treated my laptop very kindly - no jarring or dropping or rough-housing.

Can anybody from HP admit that they have a display part flaw leading to premature screen failures? I can't afford to buy a new laptop and certainly cannot afford the down-time of a week or two to re-install everything and get it set up just right - it's my main business machine.

     Options ?

Going to send it to manufacture. Seems that it coused by cheap screen.

Did you solved your issue ?

t's a hardware thing, maybe the screen ribbon wire, maybe the inverter almond the bottom of screen.
