I bought the HP ENVY x360 13.3 from Costco. It was a great deal for an i7 with 16GB of RAM. I noticed that when I installed apps or when the machine was under load the screen would show flickering blocks all over. Flickering black blocks as if there was static on the screen. I tried a few things to fix the problem.
- I reset Windows 10
- Ran Windows Update to get current.
- Uninstalled and Re-Installed the display dirver from the Device Manager.
None of these worked.
Here is what worked:
1. Since the issue affected my display and apparently nothing else, I went to the HP Drivers page for my model.
For mine it was here
2. I noticed that there was an updated driver for version 1607 of Windows. That matched the version on my machine. I downloaded and installed the new display driver.
3. Problems Solved! Haven't had the flicker blocks since. After that I downloaded and installed all of the 1607 updates. I am so good now! I really like this machine.
I hope this helps others that have the same problem.

I tried that download and a couple of others. The system restarted and the flickering went away for about an hour but is now back, worse than before. It is constant, including on the desktop/home screen! Very distracting. Need help or I will return this laptop.

Hi jdelah,
Question. Did you apply the Rev. B drivers or the Rev. A? Also, the problem that I had was flickering black blocks, like bricks, not flickering of the entire display.
If you didn't use the Rev. B display drivers, I would recommend running that. If you did run the Rev. B driver and that didn't work, then yes, no one would blame you for returning the laptop. If you buy something you should expect it to work great and bring you joy. Mine does for me since the update, so I posted this to help others, since I was going to close to returning mine before the fix.
Good Luck.

HI,
I did not see a reference to Rev A or Rev B. the last update I installed was this: Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver (Windows 10 v1607)
sp77940.exe
I also had the flickering black blocks, not the whole display. So far, they have not returned, so I am hopeful and will see if it is still stable tomorrow. Thank you for your help! - j

Yes. That is the correct (Rev. B) graphics driver. It is the one that fixed the issue for me.
Before the fix I was able to make the blocks appear by doing a virus scan with Windows Defender. (Since I uninstalled McAfee.)
It has been about 10 days of daily use and I haven't seen any blocks.
I hope that your results are as good as mine.
