After updating Windows 10 to i think 1703 Wireless displays no longer connected when they were previously fine. I updated all drivers still no go. I uninstalled wireless adapters and reinstalled, did the same for miracast, still no go. Updated to latest Windows build 1709 and still nothing is working. It sees the wireless display, tries connecting, takes a while and then says couldn't connect. Others in the building are able to connect to the TV without an issue.

Hey there! @stafast, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand you have issues connecting to wireless displays from your PC.
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC?
Please provide the product number of your PC to assist you better.
As you mentioned you have issues sharing the screen using miracast on your PC.
I have checked the product specifications of your laptop and your PC is not compatible with Miracast or Wi-Fi direct.
Refer the product specifications page of your laptop to know more information.
Also, Try the following suggestions.
•Verify that your computer is connected to WiFi.
•Restart your computer. Then restart the wireless display and adapter. If using an adapter, remove the adapter from the TV or monitor, restart your device, reinsert the wireless display adapter in the TV or monitor, and attempt to display again.
•If you are using a wireless display adapter, set the video source to the correct HDMI port (the one that the wireless adapter is connected to). To do this, check the video source settings on your HDTV, monitor, or projects. For instructions, check the information that came with your device or go to the manufacturer's website.
•If the adapter didn’t connect, open the Action Center, click All Settings, click Devices, and then click Connected Devices. Click Add a device, and then select the wireless display or wireless display adapter.
If the issue still persists try updating the wireless display adapter using HP support assistant on your PC and check if it helps.

Product Number is: W2K45UA
Laptop was working fine connecting to a wireless display, issue occurred first after updating to Windows 1703, so hoping it'd be fixed in next update RS2 1709, i updated to that and it still was not working.
Computer is connected to WiFi
Firewall is off to make sure it wasn't getting blocked
both bluetooth and network drivers are the latest
BIOS version is the latest
All other driver were upgraded to latest versions
no adapter is being used.
Still not working. I've read about other's having this same problem after updating Windows 10 to 1703, however none of the fixes worked for me.

@stafast, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
As I mentioned in my previous thread your laptop does not support screen sharing feature. So you are unable to cast the screen to a different device.
Try the steps recommended below.
-
Open Device Manager
-
Right-click on the Start menu icon
-
Select Device Manager from the list
-
-
Open the View menu in Device Manager and select the "Show hidden devices" option
-
Expand the Network Adapters section
-
Look for the "Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter"
-
Right-click on any of the adapters that have a warning icon (yellow triangle with an exclamation point) and select uninstall
-
Click the Ok button to confirm
-
Restart your computer once the driver is uninstalled.
-
Once restarted, use the Project menu (Win + P keys) to connect to your wireless display.
If the solution provided worked for you, please mark accepted solution for this post.
Hope this answers your query!

@stafast, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
As you mentioned you don't see any WiFi direct adapter having a yellow exclamation mark.
Also, as I mentioned in my previous thread based on the product details you shared your laptop is not compatible to cast the screen to a different device.
If you need further assistance, please contact HP support for service options.

This is an unacceptable response from HP.
First of all it is incorrect.
The HP Envy x360 WAS DEFINITELY able to pair with another device wirelessly.
In my case it was with a TCL roku smart TV.
I could pair with this device without issue. It would mirror my laptop screen on my TV
After the Windows 10 update that this other customer is referring to happened it stopped working.
It now shows the two pairs on the screen and the "Starting video from.. " and then it hangs...and hangs.. and then times out.
I hope people that bought this poorly designed laptop see exactly what HP thinks of you as customer.
An automated, incorrect, stupid response.. and then a 3rd grade smiley face with asking for kudos..
They couldn't care less - they've already got your money.

Yeah HP obviously doesn't have a clue, typical generic troubleshooting manual reponse. The issue however just as it had started(with a Windows update) ended up going away with a windows update. I heard back from the employee with the laptop that after a recent Windows update(a month ago) the mirroring started working again and the TV he was able to mirror to before he is now able to mirror again as well as with other capable televisions. Unfortunately, even now I could not find any documented trouble reports from MS that this was an issue and that so and so update fixed it.
