Hi, i hope you have solved the problem. In any case HP Envy have two type C that have display port 1.2 supported. In this case you will need a adapter that have DP ATL mode. You can search this words on Amazon and these should be work. Mine have the same problem and bought a usb external graphicchip adapter to link the external monitor, which is very inconviennient. Hope you will solve the problem soon.

Could you tell which of the HP Adapter that works with HP Envy? I'm having the same problem. Purchased the most expensive Envy available at my local store (Malaysia) only to realize I can't connect it to my external monitor.

Would this work? http://h20386.www2.hp.com/MalaysiaStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=Z9G82AA&opt=&mastersku=Z9G82AA&mastero...

I am now use a CableCreation bought from Amazon that is perfect fit and work. I simply bought a adapter with HDMI and VGA and no problem. I can give you the link of this adapter as https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M5JE55S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The link you sent should work, i have a similar one from HP, bu i lost it couple of month before. It is so expensive and i can't afford one more. These multiple port adapter have a displaylink chips which can act as a external graphic chip and work on every loptop with USB port. So it will be a waste since Envy support the USB-C to Display Port. Anyway, above adapter will work and it will not cost much. Goodluck.

Thank you Windone for your response, appreciate it. Glad to know it's just an adapter issue. I'll try it out with DP Alt adapter.
