The HDMI port does not show on newer Smart TV's.  Works fine on multiple displays,  and multiple "older" flat screen TV's.   Multiple newer Smart TV's  get "no Input Signal"   all using same cable.   The newer Smart TV's work fine from a Surface laptop HDMI.  I  have Updated my BIOS,  Firmware,  and latest drivers.   Intel HD Graphics 620.   No Luck.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Are you getting any error message no signal?
  • Does TV recognize video input from the computer?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

The TV shows no Signal.  However since I have upgraded the firmware and the BIOS on the laptop when I have the cable going from HDMI to the tv the PC screen flickers on and off and when I unplug the cable it stops so I know I definitely talking to the TV and signals are going between the 2.     Remember same cable going to a different TV that is not a "newer" smart TV everything works well,  sound and video to that TV.    I am convinced it has to do with "newer" Smart TV's as I have tried multiple of both. Older ones work,  newer ones do not.

Since the issue occurs after the bios were updated, let's try bios recovery and check.

Bios Recovery using a keypress combination:

  1. Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.
  2. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the Power button for 2 to 3 seconds.
  3. Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.

If this recovery method fails, use another working computer to create a BIOS recovery flash drive to install the latest BIOS file.

Just to be clear -  it failed before the BIOS update.    That is why I did the BIOS update and firmware update hoping that that would fix it.   I can do the BIOS recovery but I am sure it will do nothing as it did not work before,  unless this recovery does some magic that the original did not have.   What do you think?

Thank you for posting back.

The last thing I can suggest trying is a restore back to the factory. Performing an HP system recovery (Windows ) While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
