Microsoft Windows 11

Hi all,
I have a new HP Envy x360 2-in-1 laptop with a USB-c to dual HDMI adapter to run two external monitors.

When i plug one HDMI monitor into the adapter the laptop screen and HDMI monitor seems to work fine.  Upon adding the 2nd HDMI monitor, all the screens flicker and a repeating beeping sound comes from the laptop.

Sometimes through a series of unplugging and replugging the monitors and adapter all the screens will work, however when I lock the computer and unlock it, the screen flickering and beeping recommences.

Can anyone please assist?

Regards

Sam

Do you wish to spend more money ? If yes you can daisy chain 2 monitors using 1 Thunderbolt port otherwise  use a cheap way for 2 external monitors.

  • Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
  • Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

                                     USB to HDMI Adapter

Hi Banhien,

What is your Envy x360 13-bf0xxx ? It should have SAME ports as the following specs

               https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/ish_6644703-6646816-16

It has  (2) Thunderbolt™ 4 with USB4™ Type-C® ports (right side); 40 Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge)  ports. Your Comsol USB-C to Dual HDMI 4K adapter is NOT a Thunderbolt™ 4 with USB4™ Type-C® port but you should get 2 FHD monitors with 30Hz.  I don't w/o Display Link chip it can do that much.

Hi Banhien,

Yes it has those specs as listed I beleive.

How do I address this issue?  Is it a different USB-c to dual HDMI adapter?

Could the issue be that the two HDMI monitors are very different in age (1 is brand new Samsung and the other a very old Philips)?

I don't have all hardware to test but I tested my HP USB-C G5 dock on few HP machines and a Dell machine with

Thunderbolt™ 4 port and get the results (in yellow).         dock g5.png

Hi Banhien, thanks for the quick reply.  I don't understand. that table.

With the laptop I have how do I best get two HDMI monitors working from it?  What is the easiest solution?  New usb-c to dual HDMI adapter?  Do i need to run monitors with similar resolution?

Regards

Thank you Banhien,

The USB to HDMI adaptor you suggested works well.
