Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!

I recently bought a used HP ENVY x360 2-in-1 Laptop 14-es0033dx, mainly to use with my TV. Every spec sheet I could find, including HP's own support page, indicate it has HDMI 2.1, which supports 4K 120Hz. However, when I hook it up to my 4K TV, it will only output 4K at 60Hz (or 30 Hz if I have 10 bit color on). I have to drop the resolution to get 120 Hz. This is not a limitation on the TV end, as I can do 4K 120Hz from my RTX 3060 Ti desktop without issue.

Is this a mistake in HP's specs?
Edit: Upon further reading, this appears to be the HDMI consortium's fault... as everything in HDMI 2.1 is apparently optional:

And this laptop doesn't have thunderbolt so can't even use a DP to HDMI adapter for 4k120...

Ah you're right, it does say DP 1.4. I'll have to give that a shot, certainly won't hurt. Thank you!

The adapter arrived today. This worked, thank you! 4K 120Hz 10-bit HDR working fine.
