First off this was the most expensive laptop I ever bought, I spent nearly $1300 so I had quite high expectations. But after about 17 months or so of usage (I take very good care of my things and never use any excessive force) one side of the hinge just came completely loose. I looked on the screen where the hinge attaches and realised the plastic things that holds the screws had more or less disintegrated. Seems like the plastic is just too weak to hold the force that it gets when opening and closing the lid.
And ofcourse this is just outside the 1 year warranty from HP. Seeing how many else that is experiencing this kind of problem just confirms this is a severe design flaw. What have you other guys done when you've run into this problem since HP won't do anything about it?
I'm pretty sad about it to be honest.
it's the plastic behind the metal bar that completely snaps off
the plastic where the screws attach snaps off
