Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm trying to connect my HP Spectre x360 to an Epson (EX3200) projector via an HDMI cable (since the Spectre has no standard video pin port). The computer fails to recognize the projector--a total non-starter.

When I checked for video updates, there was one available (Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver 21.20.16.4821 Rev. B). When I tried to run it, it failed, saying my computer "Did not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software" (!!) Since this is a new (last summer) computer, what the heck?

Though either way, I don't know if this would have fixed the problem anyway.  Other than a USB drive, I don't have any other options.

Thanks in advance.

@cycleonon,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I reviewed your post and I understand that you are having issues connecting the projector to the computer.

Don’t worry, we will work together to resolve this issue and It’s a pleasure to assist you in this regard.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you provide me with the exact product number of the Notebook? Use this link to find it:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824  (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

Have you tried to check if the HDMI port on this computer works fine with other devices?

Have you checked in device manager for any unknown devices listed?

Have you tried to update the drivers?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Let's start off by updating the drivers from Device manager:

  • Press Windows key + R and type devmgmt.msc and hit the Enter
  • Now click on Ports (COM & LPT) and expand it
  • Right click on the device driver and click on update driver software and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Also, expand the Display adapters and follow the same steps to update.
  • Restart the PC once done.

If the issue persists, I have found a wonderful document which should help you resolve this issue - HP Notebook PCs - Connecting a Monitor, Projector, or TV (Windows 10, 8, 7)

Please respond to this post with the details and with the results of the troubleshooting for further assistance.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.
