Hi, recently bought a new laptop and I'm having trouble connecting to an external monitor via the Thunderbolt port. (The laptop can connect to an external monitor through HDMI without issue)

I've been trawling these forums for the past few days and I've already tried updating/uninstalling/reinstalling drivers.

I have tried with different cables and monitors to see if it was any other hardware issues.

I've already run a component test on the System Diagnostics. and received a warning (Thunderbolt devices are not currently supported via USB-C) and when I ran the Test received the error code PXDV7W-AABAAE-MFP2UK-8D0G03.

Any help would be appreciated as I bought this model specifically so I could run multiple external monitors.

Highlights from a support chat on 11/30/2020 with an HP tech support agent about this issue, which I am also having. We tried a lot of things and no fix.
- "this is known issue with the current windows update and there is no fix yet. Many users are faced this issue earlier this month and driver roll back could fix this issue. So Microsoft has stopped releasing the updates as of now."

- "recovery would be the best option. I have tried all the troubleshooting on previous units as well but there were no changes...Because once there is a windows update there would be registry changes and Microsoft have no idea what's causing this issue."

- "I will ship out a recovery drive for this machine which would be delivered in a day or two...until then back up your data and once you receive the drives perform recovery the machine would work fine after recovery and do not update the windows for a while after recovery."
