HP Spectre x360 - 15-bl110nd

My HP Spectre X360 - 15-bl110nd has a flickering screen. If I remove the bottom cover, it flickers a bit less, but still flickers irregularly. So I fthink it is a hardware issue.

edit: today I completely rotated my screen and the flickering is almost gone. now it is only a few times per minute insteead of twice per second.

Is this fixable? If so, I would like to know how.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi @Maarten_3991

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with screen flickering on your HP Spectre x360, and the fact that it improves slightly when the bottom cover is removed suggests that it could be related to hardware issues, possibly with the display cable, backlight, or screen connector.

Here’s a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot and potentially fix the flickering issue:

1. Check for External Interference

Sometimes, external devices can cause flickering. To rule this out:

  • Disconnect all external devices like USB devices, external monitors, and docking stations.
  • Check if the flickering persists after disconnecting everything.

2. Update Graphics and Display Drivers

Ensure that you have the latest drivers for your graphics card and display. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause flickering:

  • Go to Device Manager (Right-click Start > Device Manager).
  • Under Display Adapters, right-click your graphics driver and select Update driver.
  • You can also visit HP’s support website and download the latest drivers for your specific model.

3. Adjust Refresh Rate and Display Settings

Flickering can also be caused by issues with the refresh rate or other display settings:

  • Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.
  • Scroll down and click on Advanced Display Settings.
  • Check the refresh rate and ensure it's set to the recommended value for your display (usually 60Hz or higher).
  • Sometimes, setting the refresh rate too high can cause flickering, so try adjusting it to 60Hz if it’s set higher.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have the same problem with a flickering display. The only way i can stop this is holding the on/of switch as long as the lapotop switces off. Then i restart the laptop and than it is fine.

After switching the laptop off the normal way (via windows shut off) and restart it normally, the flickering of the display starts again and i have to repeat the whole thing again.

Can you help me with this problem??

Tank you very much

Regards,

Rob R.
