Hi,
I recently updated my system to run Windows 10. Now, when I change to tablet mode, the touch keyboard does not appear and the screen does not respond to touch whatsoever.
I have:
updated to the latest version of Windows 10
checked for driver updates (it reports my drivers are the latest ones)
tried disabling the touch screen and then enabling it
looked through the logs in Device Manager>>Human Interface Devices>>HID-compliant touchscreen>>Events and found an entry suggesting the touch capabilities were not migrated over with the OS update. Please see my screenshot.
I also tried to calibrate the touch screen for windows 10, but when I type "tablet pc settings" in the search box, nothing comes up, also suggesting the touch capabilities are not being recognised.
Looking at multiple similar problems on the internet shows that there should be an option in Settings>>Tablet Mode>> of "make Windows more touch friendly" that can be toggled to on/off. My settings do not show this option AT ALL. I have attached a screenshot of what is available on my system settings. This further suggests that my hardware is not being recognised as touch capable.
Any suggestions, bar rolling back to an earlier OS, on how I can enable the touch screen again?
Thanks,
Kat

Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC? Yes, my system updates to Windows 10
Is the touchscreen working in BIOS? I don't know because I cannot find out how to enter BIOS. I have tried pressing F10 on start-up, unsuccessfully
Try updating the graphics driver and BIOS on your PC using HP support assistant and check if it helps. - When I type in my PC details, it says there are no updates available. I can't update the BIOS because I cannot enter it to get the current BIOS version number.
Please try few steps recommended below.
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Expand the Human Interface Devices heading.
The touchscreen device is labeled HID-compliant touch screen, or similar. Right-click the touchscreen device.
If the option to enable the device is included in the menu, click Enable. As per my original post I already did this unsuccessfully.
Reinstall the original touchscreen device driver that came installed on your computer using the following steps:
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Expand the Human Interface Devices heading.
The touchscreen device is labeled HID-compliant touch screen, or similar. Right-click the touchscreen device and select Uninstall.
Confirm the uninstallation.
Restart the computer to reinstall the touchscreen driver. As per my original post I already did this unsuccessfully.
My USB Touch screen controller is missing!! It's not there when I go to Device Manager>>Mice and other pointing devices
How do I reinstall this??

@kit_kat_3, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
Was the windows 10 upgrade offered by HP or did you update to Windows 10 using a retail disc from Microsoft or from Microsoft website directly?
As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Since your unit has been tried and tested only for Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems. There is no drivers available from HP for Windows 10.
But If your touchscreen isn’t responsive or not working how you would expect, try restarting your PC. If you’re still having problems, check for updates:
- Press Windows logo key + R, type ms-settings:, and then select OK. This opens Settings.
- In Settings, choose Update & security > Windows Update, and then select Check for updates. Install any available updates and restart your PC if required.
- If you didn’t have any updates that required a restart, it’s still a good idea to restart your device to make sure any pending updates are installed.
You can restore the image back to Windows 7 or Windows 8 using HP recovery discs.
If you don't have one, please contact HP support and get the recovery discs.
Link to contact HP.
Also, If you have purchased a retail copy of operating system from Microsoft. Please contact Microsoft for more assistance.
If the solution provided worked for you, please mark accepted solution for this post.
Hope this answers your query!
Take Care! 🙂
