For the sake of internet searches...

We're several in the company that have the same docking station and it seems to be related to the HDMI port.

I did the firmware update but nothing changed.

We've tried changing monitors and cables, still the same issue.

Then I noticed that we all had 1 monitor on HDMI and the other on DP, we've connected both on DP and the issue seems to be solved.

Hope it helps someone.

Hey MaxouMask,

I just wanted to add some additional context to your solution.

Initially, I tried varying HDMI and DisplayPort combinations and that unfortunately did not have an effect for us. We did have one dock model that was working, regardless of which laptop was plugged in, and prior to the early 2024 firmware update.

All that said, I do think this particular issue is between the dock and monitors, and is not a problem with the laptop that is connected.

100% guarantee that this is the HP USB-C hub that is causing the problem.  I had no issues for years until I recently did a Hub/Dock firmware update.  Now I have this problem randomly every 2 - 3 minutes, where the HDMI monitor goes completely black for about 10 seconds.

I have changed the cables with the same result. I tried different monitors and had the same result.

Finally, I used a separate USB-C adaptor on my laptop and connected directly to the monitor, bypassing the HP hub and it never goes out.

This is 100% the HP USB-C hub/dock causing the problem.  A new firmware update is needed from HP.

Corporate IT-Admin here

I can confirm that it's the crappy HP docks and not any cables or ports.
Currently the G5 docks are causing problems again after installing the sp151931 SoftPaq (version: 1.0.20.0)
Meanwhile i advise anyone who wants to listen not to buy these **bleep**ty HP docks. We ourselves have switched to replacing them with Dell docking stations.

Shame on you HP. You are bad and that's how you should feel.

We have the same issue and HP EliteBook 650 15.6 inch G10 Notebook PC paired with the G5 dock.  Posting in hopes of a resolution soon.

It is now July and this issue seems to have returned after the latest docking station update.  I have this issue with any new HP laptop and new docking station in my environment.  If there isnt a proper fix I will be sending a large RMA for 20+ docking stations with issues.

Same issue here. Firmware update did nothing.

My working setup actually looks like this: I have 3 external monitors connected + laptop display. Two monitors are connected via DP and one via HDMI. So far there was never any problems. Recently, however, the connected monitors have started to flicker. As I said, firmware update was useless.

The docking station seems to have a problem with the signals coming via DP and HDMI at the same time. I have unplugged the HDMI cable and thus the fourth monitor. So far no flickering on the other monitors.

This is not an acceptable permanent condition, but it is better than flickering monitors. Perhaps this information will help someone.

Other threads and communities are saying to change the cable out to a better quality cable and it seems to fix the issue.  I have not tested this yet.

I am a single user and have given up on the G5 and HP support for it.
I have been using a Plugable Thunderbolt 4 (TBT4-UD5) for 2 months now. No problems.

Going to be leaving this forum. Good luck
