ProBook 650 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello - I have an HP laptop, ProBook 650 G3, which has a usb-c port with Thunderbolt 3 (lightning bolt indicator).

I also have an Apple Thunderbolt display, which has a Thunderbolt cable as its only connector.  The display is self-powered.

I am using a Thunderbolt 3-Thunderbolt 1/2 adapter to try and connect my HP laptop to the Apple display.  When I connect the cable, the Laptop recognizes the adapter as a device, but not the screen and nothing else happens on the laptop or display when I connect.

Others have referenced the need to make edits to BIOS settings or download software from HP, but that is information pieced together from semi-relevant articles so I would appreciate some guidance.

Thank you in advance!

Are you sure your machine has Thunderbolt port which is compatible with Apple Thunderbolt ? The specs ONLY says it has USB 3.1 Type C, not Thunderbolt.

Thanks Banhein - Interesting, appreciate you pulling up the specs.  I assumed that the image of a lightning bolt adjacent to the usb-c port was an indication that this port supported Thunderbolt.  Perhaps this version does support TB? Or does the thunderbolt image represent something else?
