HP 34f Curved External Monitor
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Help! I use an HP external docking system and an HP 34f curved external monitor for my home office. I plug all peripherals into my laptop with the external docking system USB-C cord. For my work computer (Dell) everything works fine. But for my personal computer (MacBook, 0S Sequoia 15.5) the monitor won't display despite the MacBook recognizing the display. In the Display settings on my Mac I can see the monitor, I can configure how it's arranged, determine if it's the main display, mirrored, or an extension. But the monitor says Input Signal Not Found and it goes to sleep. I can't find any help on the internet for this issue except if the computer recognizes the monitor but the monitor won't display it must be a hardware issue (cables or the monitor). But I know this isn't the problem because I use these cables and monitor all day every day with my Dell. Any suggestions are welcome!

Hi @GenXJenny,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP monitor display issues with MacBook!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that all cables are securely connected and inspect them for any signs of damage. If possible, try using a different USB-C cable or port on your docking station.

Monitor Input Source Settings:

  • Use the buttons on the monitor to ensure it is set to the correct input source. Sometimes the monitor needs to be manually switched to the correct input (USB-C, HDMI, etc.).

Update MacBook and Docking Station Firmware:

  • Confirm your MacBook has the latest operating system updates.
  • Some docking stations have firmware updates that can solve compatibility issues. Check HP’s website for any docking station firmware updates.

Resolution and Refresh Rate:

  • In Display settings on your MacBook, ensure that the resolution and refresh rate are compatible with what the monitor supports.

Try Connecting Directly:

  • If possible, connect the monitor directly to the MacBook using an alternative cable or adapter to rule out issues with the docking station.

Power Cycle Devices:

  • Turn off your monitor, disconnect all cables, wait a few minutes, reconnect everything, and turn the monitor back on.

Safe Mode:

  • Boot your MacBook in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key during startup. This can sometimes resolve system conflicts with external displays.

I hope this helps.
