This 15 inch touchscreen laptop operates on Win 10 - 64 bit. It is connected to a HP 3005pr port replicator. I would like to have the computer go to sleep after 15 minutes, but wake up with a click of the mouse. I understand that this is workable, but I am having a challenge getting it to work. (Presently I have to open the laptop and press the power switch to make it come to life.)
Your suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello @swc-retired,
Welcome back to the HP Forums!
I have read your post and understand that a mouse click is not waking your HP 15-d087ca TouchSmart Notebook. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
First, please perform a hard reset. Next, the USB power options will have to be changed.
HP Notebook PCs - Managing Power Options (Windows 10)
Use the above document to help you find the advanced power options, in there expand the USB settings field. Be sure to disable the USB selective turn off setting and then click apply.
Once that is done, use this document to help you open the device manager.
HP PCs - Device Manager Information (Windows 10, 😎
In the device manager go to the Universal Serial Bus controllers, right click on the device / port you wish to be able to wake the computer. Click Properties and then the Power management tab. In there, select the check box labeled Allow this device to wake the computer.
I look forward to the results!

Thank you for your wisdom, FlashRam1714.
I have done everything until I started in with the Device Manager.
When going to Power Management on the USB ports, I notice that the box labelled 'Allow this device to wake the computer' is greyed -- and I cannot change the setting.
There must be something else in Windows which is set to block such changes, right?
Many thanks for any more suggestions.

Hello @swc-retired,
Thank you for the reply!
I have found a conversation from the Windows 7 forums, but it should work for Windows 10 as well.
Allow or Prevent to Wake Up Computer
Under option 2 is the information that will help you.
Let me know how it goes!

Hi FlashRam1714,
Many thanks for your wisdom.
I have given my laptop the command as suggested in Option 2 -- still nothing.
Since my keyboard and mouse are running through the HP Port Replicator, do you think it is interferring? I have not been able to access the 'fast' USP port in Device Manager such that I can check that port to facilitate waking. Any suggestions as to how to access that greyed line?
Cheers!

Hello @swc-retired,
Yes the port replicator could be interfering with this ability. Are you able to plug the mouse and / or keyboard directly into a USB port on the notebook to test the functionality?
I will await your reply!

Hi FlashRam1714,
Yes, I tried the USB direct connect method -- but to no avail.
When I go to Device Manager and look at the Power Management of any of the USB Hubs, especially the 'fast' one which connects to the replicator, the bottom line which permits that port to permit the computer to wake up is greyed out. There must be a function which will permit me to activate that line, or a function which is blocking it from being active so that I can check it.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks.

Hello @swc-retired,
Okay, there are a few more things to check for in order to enable that feature. Within the device manager instead of trying to changed the USB HUBs themselves. try going to the "keyboard" and "Mice and other pointing devices" right-click > Properties > Power Management > Allow this device to wake the computer.
Is the option also grayed out there?
Try restoring the BIOS using an external USB device.
HP Notebook PCs - Restoring the BIOS
After the BIOS is restored you can go into the BIOS and check the power options in there.

Hello FlashRam1714,
I have been holidaying for awhile, so computer has sat still.
I have read through the BIOS article, and the BIOS is current -- did not come up on the list of updates. (I did update all the drivers listed though)
Went into BIOS menu and there is no power management menu as suggested by the article.
Power Management in USB hubs still is grey, still seems to be the stickler.
Thanks for continued ideas of this puzzler
