Hp 15-ac107nq notebook GRAPHICS DRIVER NOT WORKING

HP Recommended
Hp 15-ac107nq
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a Hp 15-ac107nq notebook which has a amd radeon r5 m300 graphics card.

The problem is that the driver provided by HP doesn't work.

I downloaded sp72646.exe file from here: http://support.hp.com/ro-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-15-ac100-Notebook-PC-series/8499326/model/1028280...

Corresponding to windows 7 64 bit version of the driver.

After all the files are extracted and the setup is supposed to start, nothing happens.

I noticed some processes running in the background but nothing appeared on the screen even after half an hour.

I thought that it might be a .net issue so I Installed .net 4.5 framework but I had the same issue with the installer.

Afterwards I tried installing the amd's official website driver for this graphics card but obviously it doesn't work.

Any ideas?

hi @crs4

I would suggest you to uninstall both the display drivers on the unit

Install intel driver first from link below :

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72501-73000/sp72652.exe

Install AMD driver then from below link :

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72501-73000/sp72646.exe

let us know the status

Thanks

Thank you for your help! It worked.

I have another question. Is there any way of enabling the AMD graphics card by default? So that the system is forced to only use that graphics card and I won't ever need to select it manually?

Ontopic:

I've done the steps you recommended and everything is fine now.

The odd thing about both drivers is that there is no window that appears to show you the progress. That's a very nasty thing because you don't quite know if the drivers are installing or not.

Also HP should inform customers about this particular issue that so that everyone would know how to install their graphics driver. It's not quite intuitive that you should install the intel driver first and then the amd/intel switch since on the site it is specified that the amd/intel switch driver contains both drivers for amd AND for intel. therefore it should work. Only thing that it doesn't. Also, a window that would show you "please wait" wouldn't be that much of a problem to put on a driver installer so the user would know that everything is probabbly working.

It was quite a pain in the *** and I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what the problem was.

Anyways, I'm grateful for your contribution.

Thank you!
