Huge fps drops

So i have had this laptop for months now looking for a solution. My gpu = NVIDIA 940MX. The fps drops happen on all games and the higher the settings are the less the drops will happen, but if i have the settings too high not only will i still have fps drops but i'll have low fps. I have changed settings in NVIDIA control panel more times than i can count, i even switched to Integrated graphics (Intel(R) 620 HD graphics) and even that has problems. The intel card has half a second freezes every now and then, especially when i'm in combat on my game. I have updated drivers, i have done BIOS update i have changed windows settings to performance, i have turned off game DVR and i have read through nearly every forum i could find that i searched. Another ting to know, when the fps drops happen my cpu and gpu percentage also drops with it, and i'm certain that it is not an overheating problem because from what i've felt it does not get any hotter 50-60c. Does your Notebook meet the recommended requirements for those games?

I suggest you update the Graphics drivers from Device Manager.

- In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
- In the list of devices, look for Graphics Drivers and expand the list
- Right-click the drivers and select Update Driver Software.
- Click Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the updated driver.
- Restart your computer to complete the installation of the updates.

Out of curiosity, do these FPS drops occur when the laptop is running on battery alone?

I always have the laptop plugged in.

Please try unplugging it and testing again, let me know if the problem persists. 

No, it's not a solution but it may isolate the issue!

Unplugging it just seems to slighty prolong it. I've tried searching for an update for the main gpu with the problem with no updates. The intel card seems to have an update, but the last time i updated the intel card it didn't fix my problem.

You should be able to update the drivers with the latest ones from http://www.geforce.com/drivers

You'll see in this image the "cpu" is selected, when i first changed that from "auto select" ame rate drops happened alot less often, but didn't completely get rid of it. Like the intel itself it just made the frames a little slower ocassionally. I have also updated the intel card and checking performance now.

d also an answer to your question about whether this computewr is designed to handle games or not, it is designed to handle medium range settings for gaming and the main gpu says on the NVIDIA website that it is for gaming. The gpu runs games fairly smoothly besides the frame rate drops

1 more thing to add before i test how its going now. I monitored the task manager and when the fps drops happen the cpu usage and the gpu usage drops from around 60-80% on both of them down to 20% or so.
