HP Spectre x360 - 15t-bl100 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everybody, I always encounter graphic remnants of previous programs to stagnate in the desktop. Especially when I'm doing multi-tasking; after closing one program, a shadow of the graphic of the previous program is still in my desktop.

I have to lowered the brightness to 50% in order for them to disappear. My recommended screen resolution is 3840x2160 at 59Hz refresh rate. If I lower the refresh rate the screen starts blinking and then resets to the 59Hz. This is also happens if I lower the brightness to min.

I have updated all my drivers and the BIOS but the problem is still present.

Can somebody help?

Hi @Aesop21

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

May I have the exact model name of the computer? Click here for steps on finding the information we need. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

While you respond to that, I'd suggest you try connecting the computer to an external display as this will help us isolate the issue.

Also, try updating the computer using these steps -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Let me know how that goes.

My model ID is: HP Spectre x360 - 15t-bl100 CTO with ProdID 1VW22AV and is a laptop with Intel i7-8550U, 16GB RAM at 2667MHz, 4K panel, NVIDIA MX150  and 1TB SSD drive bought in the end of 2017.

Manufacturer Warranty expired on November 26, 2018.

I have connected the laptop to an external monitor and there is no problem there so I am guessing the problem is probably a HW issue from the 4K panel in my laptop!

All the updates are always installed properly as soon they become available.

The laptop cost me almost 2000$ and less than 4 months ago the one year Manufacturer Warranty expired. Already I have send it in for a repair on the speakers during the warranty period but now looks like this is a defected model since HW components one after the other collapse so probably I have to be more careful choosing a reliable brand next time i spend 2000$ for a laptop that won't broke two times in less than a year and a half with very limited daily use only at home .

@Aesop21

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

If you wish to help to community grow, you may simply select “Accept as Solution” and hit the purple thumbs up to say thanks for my efforts.

Have a good day ahead.

They have contacted me and I gave them the info they requested. All I got was that they offered a free call to a technician to tell me what I already knew: Don’t buy expensive laptops from HP because they use the lowest quality parts so their products break all the time even with minimal use. At least the keyboard is looking good and the spectre x360 is a nice decorative item on your desk but next time buy a reliable brand that is looking better, has a fruit in the back, their extesnive warranty don't cost a fortune (that you never actually use), there is stores eveywhere to drop it off and works with no problems for more than 10 years.
